Delabrad 2 Bread Wheat Seed

Delabrad-2 is a high yielding and very high quality bread wheat in the mid early maturity group. It has hard red kernels with awns, white medium large spikes, a strong peduncle, and the ability to produce many tillers under favorable conditions. The characteristics summarized below are based on data and observations collected during testing.

Its peduncle is medium in length but very sturdy, which prevents the plant from lodging. Under good conditions it can form up to 13 tillers and the average number is 7. Spike size increases as growing conditions improve. A single spike can carry as many as 80 grains, with typical counts ranging from 45 to 55.

Delabrad-2 has very strong quality characteristics. Thousand grain weight and hectoliter weight are at medium to high levels, and gluten level, sedimentation values and dough energy range from high to very high.

Nitrogen use efficiency increases significantly under heavy rainfall or irrigation. As nitrogen uptake improves both yield and quality rise. Irrigation at the beginning of heading and during grain filling has a strong positive effect. Because water use increases, summer fertilization should be done with ammonium nitrate, and applying up to 5 kg/da more fertilizer at the beginning of heading further improves performance.

The yield potential of Delabrad-2 ranges from 500 to 900kg/da. Irrigation and high rainfall raise the yield toward the upper end of this range.
